The Challenger, VIN JS27N0B289623, is a real R/T convertible.
It is powered by a 383 CID High Performance engine
developing 335 horsepowers.
The ponies go through a 4-speed manual transmission with Hurst
pistol-grip shifter.
Rear end is 8 ¾ inch 3.23:1 Sure Grip.
This is a fairly rare car, only 149 convertibles were
produced with this engine/transmission.
My Challenger is an all original matching numbers
car, and other interesting original
options are:
AM/FM stereo radio, 3 speakers in the dash
Power convertible top
Luggage rack
White bumble-bee stripe
Imported to Norway in 1976 from USA, 110000 original
miles per now.
Before:
It looked good before the restoration began...
Restoration process:
The work done was quite extensive, Stripping of paint
down to bare-metal (what a joy!),
Rust-welding of rear-quarters, drivers floor-pan replaced,
drivers side door-skin, front-fenders.
Sandblasting corners and places with surface-rust.
New bumpers front and rear, new upholstery and carpet,
all emblems replaced, trunk and engine compartment detailed.
At the same time all body plugs and all rubber items were
replaced.
After the resto:
The white bumble-bee stripe was discovered when I stripped
the paint (3 layers of plum-crazy and sealer-coats on top of the
original paint....)
